How to Overcome Distraction

I sat down and opened my laptop determined to write and send this note by 5:45 a.m.

Then pop, pop, ding, eep…

17 things popup on the screen: updates, messages, alerts, news…

I said to myself, I’ll just take care of a thing or two ‘real quick’…

Next thing I know, it’s 7:30 !!!

That ever happen to you?

You start with good intentions, then your focus gets hijacked!

Good intentions aren’t enough in this distracted world; these days, you need a
bulletproof plan. Everyone thinks that successful people are somehow superhuman and
don’t have to battle the daily temptation to get distracted.

I wish!

Truth is, more success + more opportunities = more distractions!

The solution? Have a system and a plan.

The simple system I practice and teach is called “prayer planning.”

Begin right now by asking 3 questions:

  1. What am I thankful for right now?
  2. What is my #1 priority today, the most important thing that must get done today,
    no matter what?
  3. How am I asking God to help today?

Write your answers on a piece of paper, index card or sticky note and look at it
throughout the day.

Notice what happens…

What if you did this every morning? Could it help your focus? Would you get more
of what matters done daily despite the distractions?
