Calling You Deeper in 2020

Found solitude this morning and seems like there’s a holy hush over the house this first day of 2020.
I love this. Like unwrapping a priceless gift!

(This devotional email is a little longer today, so be sure you read to the end for the action steps.)

I’m high energy most the time, so this is a precious thing.

I opened my Bible to Luke 5 again this morning. The Lord’s been highlighting the story of Peter and I can’t get enough of it. Maybe you’ve heard it before, even read it many times, yet I see there are new levels of meaning to catch.

Simeon Peter was a professional fisherman and knew his trade.

He’d met Jesus and seen some pretty impressive things like Jesus healing his mother-in-law from a high fever (Luke 4:38-39); Right away she kicked into hostessing mode serving her guests. That made an impression on a house bustling with hungry men!

This day though things would go to a whole new level. Simeon Peter’s life was about to change– forever.

Jesus asked him to take his boat out to the deep water to lower his nets for a catch of fish.
Peter knew the best fishing was at night and let Jesus know they’d been at it all night long, were exhausted and caught nothing. He could have let it go right there.

Something shifted though; You can hear the pivot in his voice when he says

…”But at Your word, I will do as you say and lower the nets again.” (Luke 5:5)

When Simeon took the boat into deeper water and let down the nets, he caught so many fish that the nets began to break. He called for a partner boat to come help. Both boats were so full of fish that they began to sink.

When Peter encountered the raw power of Jesus he was astonished and fell to his knees;
…now he could hear His call.

Jesus had their full attention and now spoke these words to Simeon Peter and his partners:

“Have no fear; from now on you will be catching men.” (5:10-11)

Peter heard the call and took it hook line and sinker.
He believed, trusted, and followed Jesus’ example.

What if he hadn’t taken the invitation from the Lord to go deeper?
He’d been fishing a long time and with his logical mind believed this would never work.

It worked.

You and I may not be fishermen, but we have the same ability to hear the voice of the Lord and follow his call to deeper water. For you, that may mean taking a risk in 2020 that doesn’t make sense. It may mean signing back up again.
Maybe God has called you further out, to stretch your belief and obedience so you can see things you’ve not seen before.

I’ve been at this a while and I’m heeding the call out into the deep to do things I’ve not done before, go places I’ve not gone. Yes, it’s a little scary.

Let’s not miss it…the opportunity to go out deeper and see what we shall catch.
If you don’t go, you won’t know.

I’m feeling excited, full of wonder and high expectation of a God kinda catch in 2020 and beyond.

I’m doing a 2020 Next Level Webinar in a few days to help people who want to go to the Next Level of your life, work, and dreams in 2020. It helps to go together and there’s great safety in community, among the voices who help you advance your call and vision.

Every Spring I take a group of people to a Breakthrough BOOTCAMP in Branson MO where we do this together.
I’m opening up the FREE Pre-Bootcamp webinar for you; you just need to request the invite by clicking this link:

  1. Click the WEBINAR LINK and request the invite.
  2. Read the story in Luke 5: 1-11 for yourself and ask the Lord to highlight what it means for you.
